[VIDEO] Sri Ramachandran Joins IoT and Cybersecurity Panel at CES 2025

Last month at CES 2025, the world's premier tech event, SomosID took center stage to engage with IoT innovators to explore the pressing issues shaping the future of connected technology. Sri Ramachandran, Somos’ SVP & CTO, participated in a panel discussion which zeroed in on IoT security and cybersecurity challenges. Hosted by the IoT M2M Council (IMC), the panel brought together professionals from across the industry to discuss trends, risks and evolving standards in the IoT space.

Moderated by Ellen Boehm, SVP of IoT Strategy at KeyFactor, the panel included experts from Vodafone, Finite State, Thales DIS and Aeris. The discussion covered the growing number of connected devices, which now exceeds 18 billion, and the vast impact of different network modalities, including LoRa, Wi-Fi and 5G. During the discussion, panelists shared insights on how businesses can balance innovation with the need for security.

Sri provided his perspective on the broad definition and implications of IoT, explaining how connected devices range from smart home appliances to large-scale industrial automation. He highlighted the importance of developing cybersecurity standards that can apply across different industries and ongoing initiatives between IMC and the Global Certification Forum (GCF) to create practical guidelines that align with regulations like the EU Cyber Resilience Act.

The discussion also covered ways organizations can address security challenges, manage risks and ensure compliance with evolving regulations. The panel’s input reinforced the importance of maintaining trusted communications and developing secure systems to support IoT growth.

The event provided an opportunity to explore cybersecurity risks and approaches for securing IoT networks. Learn why securing not just the IoT devices, but entire platforms and networks, is critical.
