Decommissioning of WBA and MGI extended to September 30, 2021

It was previously announced that two legacy interfaces – Web Based Access (WBA) and Mechanized Generic Interface (MGI) – were being scheduled for decommissioning on April 30, 2021. This effort was identified as a part of the larger program to modernize the SMS/800 TFN Registry (formerly known as the SMS/800 Platform) and help drive the future of Toll-Free.

We recognize that over the past few months, the novel coronavirus outbreak has drastically altered the way we operate and with it, required Responsible Organizations (Resp Orgs) to reevaluate and reorganize business operations and key initiatives. At Somos, we take our commitment to supporting our industry very seriously and are firmly rooted in doing what we can to promote business continuity.

With this in mind, and in response to the changes that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about, the decision has been made to extend WBA and MGI’s decommissioning from April 30, 2021 to September 30, 2021. Transitions are rarely easy, and we want to ensure that Resp Orgs are empowered and have what they need – be it time, resources, etc. – to be successful during these unprecedented times.

As you start your transition, we encourage you to begin the shift by implementing the new APIs and UI that were introduced during the SMS/800 TFN Registry modernization project. The following resources** offer a great starting point as you navigate the migration:
