Decommissioning Plan for MGI & WBA to Support the Future of Toll-Free

To Support the Future of Toll-Free and Your Business, the WBA and MGI Interfaces are Scheduled to be Decommissioned on April 30, 2021

The transition to a cloud-based platform was only the beginning of the long-term plan to modernize the SMS/800 Toll-Free Number (TFN) Registry to enable innovation and support the future of Toll-Free.

As emerging technologies such as IP call routing evolve and advance, Somos has been working tirelessly to ensure that all Responsible Organizations (Resp Orgs) have the platforms, features and functionality needed to leverage these technologies and stay competitive in the Toll-Free industry.

To better serve the Resp Org community as new technologies are adopted, the new SMS/800 TFN Registry APIs and User Interface (UI) were a key development in the registry platform modernization program. APIs are a strategically important technology and allow businesses to innovate, enhance performance and harness increased value.

To ease the transition to the newly modernized SMS/800 TFN Registry, two legacy interfaces – Web Based Access (WBA) and Mechanized Generic Interface (MGI) – were maintained throughout the system cutover. As technology advances; however, continuing to leverage these interfaces puts its user’s business continuity at risk.

In support of the future of Toll-Free and your business, the WBA and MGI interfaces are scheduled to be decommissioned on April 30, 2021. To ensure continued innovation for the industry, it is integral that users begin the shift to the new, more modern SMS/800 TFN Registry APIs and UI on or before the decommissioning. In preparation for the transition, we encourage you to explore:
