SMS/800, Inc. Changes Name to Somos, Inc.

Toll-Free administrator launches efforts to expand registry offerings to meet growing customer demands and evolve with telecom trends.

Bridgewater, NJ, October 27, 2015 — SMS/800, Inc., the provider of trusted, neutral Toll-Free numbering and registry administration services for the telecommunications industry for more than 20 years, announced it is changing its name to Somos, Inc. The company oversees the administration of more than 40 million Toll-Free Numbers and provides centralized routing data for Toll-Free voice and texting services.

The announcement was made today during President and CEO Gina Perini’s remarks at the company's inaugural Toll-Free User Summit in Orlando, FL.

This announcement follows several major company milestones beginning in 2013, when it assumed sole responsibility for operating the SMS/800 Toll-Free voice registry for North America and reorganized the company, through a new management team and corporate governance structure, to better advance the company and the Toll-Free industry into the future. 

This year, under Perini’s leadership, the company has introduced a breakthrough in Toll-Free communication with the Texting and Smart Services Registry, a centralized registry database that facilitates the text-enablement of Toll-Free Numbers with plans to enable additional multimedia services in the future, and is embarking on an innovative modernization of its SMS/800 Toll-Free voice registry platform.

“Today, we are ushering in a dynamic new chapter for the company, and for the Toll-Free industry as a whole,” said Perini. “Through our registries, we will enable innovation, solve problems, and, most importantly, help our customers grow their businesses in new and exciting ways. All this will be driven by our mission to empower more intimate and trusted connections between brands, consumers, and communities within Toll-Free and the broader telecommunications industry.”   

The new Somos name will be effective November 2, 2015, and will be implemented across the organization’s products and services throughout the next several months.
